  2. Hi, I want to know if somebody here can help me how I can find and download the 'ActiveX' in my computer.
  3. In the Internet Explorer browser, click Tools in the upper toolbar or click on the Tools icon and select Internet Options. Click the Security tab. Click Custom Level. Scroll down to the ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins section. Change Download Signed ActiveX Controls to PROMPT. Close Internet Explorer then re-open Internet Explorer.

Your browser may require ActiveX controls to be allowed in order to view live video using the mydlink Portal. If ActiveX is required, please follow these steps.

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer browser.

On Internet Explorer 9 and later, if the ActiveX Filtering feature is turned on, it can block Lync Web App from loading correctly. You must disable it to use Lync Web App. If ActiveX filtering is turned on for a website, Internet Explorer displays the null icon in the address bar to indicate that the ActiveX controls have been filtered.

Step 2: Click the Settings icon and then Internet Options.

Step 3: Click on the Security tab, select Internet, then click on the Custom Level… button.

Step 4: Ensure that the Allow ActiveX Filtering option is Disabled.

Note: Enabling settings will block your ActiveX Installation,

Note: If you have antivirus or firewall programs running, make sure they are not blocking ActiveX controls from being downloaded or running. Make sure that you have administrative rights before installing the ActiveX controls.

Purpose

This document focuses on troubleshooting the activeX control installation on an Internet Explorer browser. Common issues that can occur with the installation or when the activeX control is not correctly installed include not being able to export / import from the grid, cannot view media object attachments, not getting prompted for install, and when installing the control, the user sees something flash on the screen and disappear.

ActiveX controls are only available with the Internet Explorer browser since they are a Microsoft Product. The activeX functionality is used with the RTF Text Attachments, OLE, and grid export / import functionality. For functionality on non-IE browsers see <Document 780761.1> E1: MOBJ: Non-ActiveX Controls for EnterpriseOne Grid Import / Export and Media Object Attachments for all browsers Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer (IE), Safari

Also, review the 'What is the impact or implications to the grid and media objects when turning off ActiveX controls for media objects and grid import / export?' blog post for details on the implications / impact of making the change to ActiveX controls.

There are some known symptoms/keywords that can occur with issues pertaining to ActiveX controls.

Media Object attachments are not working in IE Browser:

  • Text attachment is not working as it's not allowing to type in the Text Box
  • Media Object Viewer is not opening in IE
  • Click here to download media object
  • This media object is not viewable because of settings on your browser. Please download the media object file to your local machine to view with an appropriate application.
  • Import file extension is invalid or the imported file is corrupted. Please contact the administrator
  • Few Users are not able to add/edit text attachment
  • OLE button is missing in Media Object viewer on some machines
  • The text button is not shown in Media Object Viewer on some machines
  • ActiveX install issue
  • ActiveX corrupt
  • After being prompted for and installing the Text Attachment ActiveX control, the text attachment button on the Media Object attachment screen disappears
  • Unable to export all grid rows when using activeX controls
  • Users cannot view media objects or export / import from the grid
  • Compatibility mode with Internet Explorer 11 (IE11)
  • After upgrade icon missing or attachments not working
    • NOTE: As it states in the Upgrade section, activeX controls should always be updated to the most current version. Most times, the new version is compatible (backward compatible) with prior releases. Thus allowing for continued use of multiple release levels from the same browser.
